Current Weight: 272, boys and girls. I have now joined Life Time Fitness, and am getting serious about not setting foot in fast food restaurants unless absolutely necessary.

Last Book Read (Completely): In the middle of reading three: a book on the 1968 presidential election by three British authors, Washington Goes to War by David Brinkley, and a book on the 1980 presidential election by the Washington Post staff. Read this year: Jon Miller's autobiography, 1968: The Year the Dream Died by Jules Witcover, Keith Olbermann's book of special comments from Countdown, and The Number by Lee Eisenberg.

Last Magazine Read, Cover to Cover: Nothing lately. We now subscribe to Time, Sports Illustrated, The New Yorker, New York, Men's Health, Best Life, Money, The Atlantic Monthly, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, Golf, and I don't know what else.

Last TV Show Watched, Game Shows Not Included: Probably a Scooby-Doo episode with Danny, or some other cartoon.

Last Game Show Watched: Karen, my sister, and I watched a few Family Feud episodes on GSN last week, and also saw part of  [info]gameshowman's appearance on Russian Roulette.

Last Movies Seen: Get Smart in the theater. Not as bad as all the critics were saying (which may have to do with my infatuation with Anne Hathaway, but it really was pretty good, and do you really want Steve Carell doing "Would you believe?" jokes for two hours?). By the way, yes, Mel Brooks and Buck Henry created Get Smart!, but they had very little to do with the TV series (they might have contributed to five episodes combined beyond the pilot), so stop saying it was their brilliance that kept the show on the air. Give some credit to the producers who worked on the show for the full five years it was on, not the two guys who worked on the pilot and then scrammed for bigger things.

Last Album Purchased: Didn't buy any this month.

Longest Distance Traveled Away From Home in June: We were in Cape Cod for a week. Karen's apartment situation is settled, and Danny's registered for kindergarten. The airline overbooked on the way back, so we stayed an extra day gratis in Boston and now have three round-trip tickets to use over the next year, which will make the trip to Disneyworld cheaper.

Last Sporting Event Watched or Listened To: Listened to a few minutes of the Cubs game last night.

Goals for July:
- Spend as much time with Karen and Danny as possible before they go to Boston.
- Work out every day. Despite the plantar fasciitis. I can always swim.
- Stay focused in everything I do.
- Start getting involved with the Democratic Party in some way.
