Is Nobody Updating, Or Is It Just Me?

I just haven't seen any updates from anyone since Tuesday afternoon. I'm wondering if Live Journal is down.

Karen's busy the next two nights -- she's having dinner with her friend Marsaura (yes, you read right -- she was born in the late '60s/early '70s) tonight and having someone over to review films for class discussion tomorrow.

I'm taking the opportunity to work out and work on the Superhits CDs. I finished disc 39 last night, which puts us in December 1982. ("Oh, Mickey, you're so fine/You're so fine, you blow my mind/Hey, Mickey!") I'd like to get them done over the weekend. For what it's worth, these are great as exercise music, and since I'm not really familiar with what's on them yet, I'm making new discoveries. Of course, I'm also discovering songs I somehow forgot to include ("I missed 'Dream Police'?") and songs I thought I had on CD but aren't available after all ("Don't You Want Me" by The Human League).

Saturday may be a busy day. I've just about decided on my bicycle -- I took a test ride on a Gary Fisher bike Sunday and found it extremely comfortable. It's way more expensive than I would have liked, but the dealer throws in two free tune-ups (which run a lot of money over time), plus lifetime brake and gear adjustments and 10 percent off equipment for everyone in the family. Plus it's within walking/biking distance of our house, which is convenient. I promised Karen we'd see Possession Saturday night -- the book is one of her all-time favorites (she's on her second copy, having worn out a trade paperback). It won a Booker Prize (Great Britain's highest literary honor) when it was first released, and Karen's been anticipating the movie for years. Unfortunately, the two reviews I've seen were vicious in their dislike, so I may be in for a long night. I'm pretty accommodating to Karen's love of movies (I don't think she'll be able to get me to any of the Lord of the Rings films again, though); she puts up with a lot from me, so it's a fair trade.

Game show note: got a note from former Almost Anything Goes producer Sam Riddle today -- he's dug up a few episodes and will send them on to Damian Sullivan for the next Outrageous Game Show Moment special. Has anyone else sent anything to Damian lately? Between the urinating armadillo on yesterday's To Tell the Truth and a rat spending half the spot escaping his cage in a 1990 TTTT, we may have an animal segment.
